Our products
Our main product is maize grit (white) that’s sold to the sorghum Beer Industry in South Africa as well as yellow maize that’s sold to the snack industry. We also supply several feedlots with hominy chop, white and yellow maize.
Gritsly has established a very strong footprint in the export market through its Super maize meal, Grit and Samp. Our products have been exported to many African countries including Botswana, DRC, Zimbabwe and Malawi.

White Maize
Maize is a leafy stalk whose kernels have seeds inside. Maize, Zea mays, is an annual grass in the family Poaceae and is a staple food crop grown all over the world.
White and Yellow E250 Corn Flour
Involves grinding of softened maize and separation of corn oil seeds (germs), gluten (proteins), fibers (husk). Final product has 95% will pass through a 300mm sieve.


White and Yellow Grits
Corn grits are low in fiber and contain less than 1% fat. Grits of various granulations are utilized by the snack, breakfast cereal, and brewing industries.
Hominy Chop
Hominy, or more accurately, hominy feed is a byproduct of dry corn milling. Also used as cattle food, hominy chop contains a high proportion of fat and protein.


White / Yellow Straightrun
Straightrun is a high energy process of reducing maize to a particle size of 8mm by impact with rapidly moving hammers.
Super White Maize Meal
White Maize Meal is a natural source of protein and fibre and forms an important part of African Cuisine. Maize meal is also used in the extruding process for instant porridge, the brewing industry and in the starch industry.


Samp
Samp is an African food consisting of dried corn kernels that have been pounded and chopped until broken, but not as finely ground as maize-meal or maize rice. The coating around the kernel loosens and is removed during the pounding and stamping process.
